Mark,

Have you done a compression test on the motor yet ? ? ?

Do one and post your results.

Just an observation, listening to your video when you blipped the throttle, the engine sounded slow to respond, as in almost tight.

I guess it's difficult to get sound across the net but I understand your thoughts it was started from Cold by the way that was the first time it ran since two days a go. Prob 2-3 mins in from start up.

When it drove it was never a fast car due to weight but it also didn't hang around it lifted up and went ..

Compression test to do tomorrow, what best take the HT lead off the main disy and fit it and turn it over on the key or just turn it over by hand to get the pressure up?

Based on everything you have been saying up to this point regarding the symptoms and how they began it seems clear that you have an internal engine problem. Do the compression test and then be prepared to lay out your tools to remove the head. Don't drive it hoping for a cheap/easy bolt on fix or you may seriously damage the engine. Once the head is off check the gasket and if there is no evidence of its failure then you will need to go deeper into the engine. Bubbles in the coolant and coolant loss are certain signs that there is a leak.

the coolant does not look to have dropped in anyway the oil in the engine has been looked at and it's clean as a whistle so coolant side now looks to be ok.. so it's engine or valves/guides etc I feel do you agree..

going to do the compression test

running though my mind is

broken oil scrapper ring
damamged valve guide
oil stem seal

Take all of the spark plugs out. Ground the coil wire (the one that goes into the center of the distributor cap) with a piece of wire and an alligator clip on each end of the ground wire. Put the free end of your (made up, 12 gauge should be fine) ground wire on a good grounding spot. Insert your compression tester into each spark plug hole one by one and record the results. You will need someone to turn the key for you while you look at the compression tester, good time to have your son help you, it would be a good learning experience for him. Make sure it is park and for safety have the emergency brake on.

Good luck, we are awaiting your results.

I can still remember helping my dad change a faucet washer in our bathtub when I was probably 2 or 3, It was my job to go into the basement and turn off the water and hand what ever tool he needed as he proceeded to change the faucet washer. It is never too early to instill onto a youngster how to do things, and that things can be done.

The clear tubes go over the valve stem so that the seal edges will not get damaged by the sharp edge where the split valve keepers rest.

Be careful when removing the clear tubes.

Two type seals, two different valve stem diameters.

Use light white litium grease
