AMG and the M117?
Had, in it's time, the M117 series engine ever been modified by AMG?

Certainly the AMG Hammer had a 6 liter twin cam version of the M117 engine. There are smaller mods like AMG cams and headers.

oooh! Twin cam 117? That's just basically a M117 block with different heads and a longer timing chain?

It's 6.0L so it's bored, stroked, and it has a more efficient 32-valve layout with dual OHC. There's also a 6.0 SOHC version with std 16 valves, there are AMG cams, AMG heads, AMG headers etc; all of these are VERY hard to find and cost MUCH $$$ to the point where it's cheaper to find the specs and have someone fab new for you - or cheaper to pop in a different engine like a "E500E" m119.

There is someone on "the other board" who has had to rebuild these 32V heads, and being low-volume, the kinks weren't ever worked out and they took significant work to replace the cracking, etc. After seeing his experience, I wouldn't have a set for free (except to sell to a crazy person).
