how is this held together?

So I am doing the interior of my benz, all new material, seats and etc. I'm doing the headliner now got it mostly done but stuck and one point. I see how its held but how to I get it off. I have pictures and i don't understand how that rod stays there and if I can take it off and slide the headliner off that....

You need to pull, bend, twist, or bow that rod sideways, downward or whatever direction works, just enough to relieve the tension and be able to pull it from it's socket.

it is a modified hognose clamp, once out you will see the logic ( or lack thereof )
