Scrub the fuel lines.

I have a 1/8th" diameter fiberglass rod that is 10 feet long. It's VERY strong and really flexable. can I attatch a nylon 1/2 inch pipe cleaner ad scrub crud from the fuelines? (opening up each end of course. )

I had a clogged fuel line on a 240D once. I just opened both ends and found a small brush used for cleaning rifel barrells that was the same size as the fuel line and used that.

I fitted it to a steel cable, put a small plastic cap on the end of the cable and pushed it in one end of the fuel line and out the other. I then pulled the cable through, dragging the attached bruch through the line. I did this a few times and a great deal of crud came out.

I also removed the fuel pick-up screen and cleaned it.

It can be done and is a lot easier than you might think.

Not so much injector lines, but the lines from the tank to the fuel distributor, of course cleaning replacing all the rubber lines and strainers. Anyone know the diameter of the fuel lines off the top of their heads?

The normal flow has been from the rear to the front, Try a counterflow (from the front to the rear) of pumping at a higher rate to clean the walls. If the line was larger, you could put what we call a "PIG" in the line and scrape the walls clean. The PIG has what may look like wiper blades on the surface that clean the walls. Larger lines would be much bigger.

clogged and dirty fuel lines

Wouldnt it be easier and time effective to just replace old dirty lines with new ones? Regards, Abe G

If a gas fuel line is that dirty inside your going to have other problems I bet. Usually crud is comeing from the tank.
I've never even seen a diesel that was that bad off, and it cruds up regularly.

Oh, I doubt that the lines will actually NEED to be scrubbed, just wanna do it for piece of mind. since I'll be replacing the rubber parts anyhow.
