Wink Junkyard Blower Fan

OK Guys

I was at the junkyard a few weeks back taking parts off of an old 108 (I Think). I was unhooking the manual antenna out from the front passenger side. Behind where the speaker lives is a big blower fan. I thought it was the heater fan so I grabbed it. After reading the forums it obviously was not the heater fan. What fan is it? Any ideas would be great.

Thanks
BB

Go back to that W108 in the junkyard and see how much fun it is to remove the real heater fan, then decide if you really want to install a used one in your car!

Mark, I am new to the group with a 1975 280c. The heater fan will not turn (with help from a stick), but the ac squirrel fan does. Is the heater fan a real pain to remove. Do you know if there is a work around? I hooked up the ac fan to a separate power source, so it would run without the ac vent closing, but air did not flow past the heat radiator.

Yeah, you have to pull the center vent assembly and the heater/defrost controls, the center console, then the AC unit & blower assy, then the heater box with the dual cores, then the heater blower is the last thing screwed on the upper firewall. Best to plan this as a two-day job. Take it apart the first day - put it back together the second.
Some have installed computer fans in the cowl vent as an alternative to the labor/expense of replacing the OE fan.

Happy Motoring, Mark.
