1967 250S starter problem/ removal
The starter on my 6 cylinders 250S is very slugish and even with a new battery I need a jump start every time i need to move it (twice a week)
Last weekend I've changed the battery cables and din't make any difference, I've even try to remove the starter to clean it and try a repair but was only able to remove the botton bolt...the one on top is in a very tight place. Is there any special tool I can use? any advice please?. Thanks, Paul |

Someone else might want to chime in, but I remember these cars had a access hole in the front passenger floor covered by a removable rubber plug so you could get to the upper bolt. You have to remove the passenger floor mat/carpet to access the hole. If the starter is slow, I would suspect worn brushes and a worn nosecone bushing. I would try to fix yours first, rather than buying a dubious reman unit. The brushes and bushings are common sizes.
Good luck. |

Make sure your alternator brushes are good and also that the red dash light comes on and goes out when the engine starts.
Check the wire insulation for crackes. Old cars and old insluation can cause problems.
