Cooling System Overhaul

So i am finally getting around to going thought the entire cooling system in my 68 280SE. I drained all of the coolant and filled with water and Prestone engine flush. I drove the car all day and drained the next day. Not much dirt or contaminates came out.

I pull off all of the hoses and to my surprise all of the heater and radiator hoses are the original hoses. The radiator hoses even have the date codes from late 67 stamped in them. I pulled out the thermostat and thermostat housing and I was very surprised to find absolutely no corrosion in the thermostat housing or in the cylinder head. The thermostat is original and kind of funny looking.

Now for the $64 question. Looking inside the radiator, I can see a lot of white mineral deposits on the tubes. Would it be safe the have a radiator shop boil out the radiator to remove the deposits or could doing that possibly damage the radiator. I know that vintage brass radiators can be brittle and crack and I would hate to have to find another one. Thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
John

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would have it recored at nearly 40 years old. Then you'll know for sure it's doing the job. Should cost $300-400.
