In my 1985 380SE driver's side door lock stopped working. I cannot turn the key in it anymore. I have to use passenger side to lock the car. Since this my first MB I need advise on how to go about repair. Should I take a car to the dealer, MB mechanic, or any locksmith can do it?
I appreciate any comments. MikeB |

try this first - put the key about 1/4 of the way in and spray some WD40 into the hole. After listening to this forum I put some auto trans fluid into a squirt can and use it for this purpose. I'll swear that it seems that the ATF works better. Before you go to all this trouble though - does the key turn at all? If it does then the problem is somewhere else.

You will probably have to replace the tumbler in that door. You will get a new key with it as well.
Any garage should be able to do this. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 300E ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM OWNER OF MB AUTOWERKS .COM |
