Navigation CD Question
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 S500 with the Comand system. The navigation cd that came with the car (used) does not seem to work. The system just says "no navigation CD" Does anyone know if there are diferent cd's for different cars? (Excluding the ML) For instance, can you take the cd from an E class and use it in a S class? I think the cd I currently have is part number Q6 46 0056. Any idea what this CD goes to? It is the #4 Central disc. Thanks! Brian |

The discs used on the COMAND cars should interchange. You are correct about the ML; the ones used in the MCS system are different than the ones used in COMAND.
What the problem may be is that if the COMAND was either replaced or had an update done, you may need to buy a current disc, or one newer than the updated or replaced COMAND. Do you see some sort of date listed on the disc? Does the disc have an image of an S Class car on it? There is a chance of course that the COMAND Nav system is inop. Gilly

Nav CD
Gilly,
Thanks for the reply. The Nav CD does have a picture of an S Class on it. The Rev date on the CD is September 1999. I can find no record in the VMI of any Comand replacement. This is weird because as you said it should work. I would expect for the system to function but just to get outdated information. Any idea what year model the CD part # applies to? Thanks again, Brian |

The CD's are not all compatible for S-class cars.
I have a 2000 S430 and bought a set of navigation cd's. They did not work, I called Mercedes 1-800 # and they told me that the current all region kits did not work in early production 2000 models. In fact they looked up my records and told me that they wouldn't work. They said they would be issuing an updated set that would work for my 2000 S430 sometime this year. |
