Need Info. on Cam for 1988 420 SEL
I have a 1988 420 SEL that I am told needs a new cam shaft. The car was originally built for and sold in Japan. I have been told that there is a difference in the cams installed in the Japanese vehicles and the US. The dealers tell me there is no difference. Apparently the difference between the two cams is that the US version is 21 degrees while the Japanese version is 22 degrees). Does anyone know where I can confirm this information or know what affect of using a "US" cam in a Japanese version of the car? Will it hurt anything?
I have not been successful trying to contact Mercedes directly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. rcg7550 |

US versions cams normally have less lift & duration than "EURO" versions for lower emissions. YOU shouldn't have any problems with one US version & one euro version cams.
