dealer opinion needed
I'm moving to Lake Mohawk, NJ. The closest dealer to that area is Intercar in Newton, NJ. Does anyone have any feedback on them as a service center for 126 models. My experiance with dealers on older cars is that they have neither the expertise nor the interest to work on them. Seems if you can't hook it up to a computer, they are clueless. Curious if Intercar is different.

I have no idea about that specific dealer seeing as I am halfway across the country, but generally speaking, it is better to find a good indy. What you say about dealers mirrors my opinion and experiences perfectly.

Oh I'm well aware of that. My order of preferance is myself, independants, my 89 year old grandmother and, only if necessary, an MB dealer. However, I was just wondering if the local dealer in Newton was an exception to the rule of very, very, poor customer service.

Avoid dealers if possible
My experience is that dealers overcharge and do more repairs than needed. The worst part is that they do a mediocre job. Try to find an independent shop and do some research on what is wrong with the car and what can be done. The other name for dealer is stealer.

may want to go to www.mbca.org that is the mercedes club, they have a new jersey section and that section may have their own dedicated web site.
either chk their newletter for possible recomendations or post a message and get some advice frm some locals |
