This one is for Benzmac. I'm having the head done after the blown head gasket. It has been disassembled, cleaned, waiting for valve guides, etc. Question..When the head is reassembled, is there a way to prime the lifters without having to disassemble the valve train again. In the old days, we used to crank the engine without the plugs in until a readable oil pressure was evident, put the plugs back in and finish the job. Is this something I can do with these tiny little lifters or is there another alternative that I am not aware of??..

You can put it all back together and pull the crank sensor wire from the EZL. This will disable the ignition. This way you can turn the engine over to build pressure with out it starting.

This is appropriate anytime an engine has been apart.
Any Merc model with Electronic ignition....disconnect the plug with the Green wire that plugs into the Ignition module. No signal in ....no overload....... Yes, leave the plugs out and WATCH... the Oil Pressure Gauge as you crank the engine. You might hear the change in cranking engine RPM as the oil pressure rises. Crank it for a few more seconds .......its better if the rocker cover is off so you can see oil delivery to the top end. Put the plugs in now and ............"Kick er in the Guts"..!!!!!!!!!!
