swappinng mb engines into a 85 380se
thanks for all your advice about putting a chev into a benz.it was a bad idea.my dilemna is i want more power and and finding another 380 in good working order might be difficult so i would like anybody's suggestions mb engines that will swap with no or very little modifcations i make my living repairing trucks and heavy equipment way up here in northern ontario canada how ever I'm a newbie when it comes to benzes (and typing) but i am learning

I think the first logical step would be to review all of the gasoline engines that were installed in the w126 chassis during it's production.

Rayson has a 380 SL that has a 5.6 liter engine and transmission in it from a 560 SEC.
I'd e-mail him to ask for help and advise.

I have an '85 380 SE with a new engine. I'm selling the car. It runs very well but has its age problems unrelated to the drivetrain. If you are interested, you have your engine.

Not sure what you need, but I have a decent short block, one good head, one head with bent valves, and some miscellaneous other parts. Send me an e-mail if you're interested. The price will be right - I am more interested in getting the stuff out of the garage.
