2000 clk 430

I recently spilled a drink into the shifter on my clk 430
ever since it takes a while for the car to go into reverse how can i clean the sticky out of the locking mechanism so it works correctly

I'd recommend replacement of the shifter assembly. If your MB dealership service manager is in extremely good spirits, he may do it for you under warranty, I know I've replaced a few cars with shifting problems and lots of sticky goo on the shifter assembly under warranty. If MB never asks to have the part returned, they'll never know. Try to clean up as much as you can on the top of the center console to make it less conspicuous.
