I just got my copy of the new book by Bentley Publishers E Class Owners Bible 86-95. If you have a E Class auto you must have this one. Get it at any Book Store. Enjoy your E Class auto

Question C class owner's Bible 1994 to 2000

Has anyone ever heard of a C class owner's Bible? Thought this would also be available from Bentleys. I am also looking for the 1994 to 1997 C class sales brochure which is now unavailable. I only have the latest and the 1998 to 2000 brochure and would like to contact somebody who can send to me or email to me some of the pages so that I can make one for myself from my computer's printer. Unfortunately its only black and white. An original copy would be helpful, otherwise a colour copy will suffice. I've only had 1 reply since my last post a week ago.

Sounds Great but . . .

I have the Mercedes Benz Service Cd for my 89 300 CE and other models in the class. It's a bit of a pain to "work through" quickly.

I'm thinking about picking up the "Bible". How detailed is the service info in it? Is there info on checking systems like sensors, etc.? Any wiring diagrams, Vacuum Diagrams etc.? It's seems like everytime I buy a "service manual", It's just not quite enough info to be truly useful.

Thanks

I just picked up the Owner's Bible today hoping it would help me with my dead battery/charging circuit problem. I was surprised and disappointed to find that there was absolutely no mention of the alternator or regulator at all. I was expecting something a little more in-depth. Admittedly, I haven't had time to do other than skim through it quickly, but I could find nothing. Has anyone else found something I might have missed?

If you own a W124, plan to buy one, or want to know more about this car line, this book is quite good.

Although, if you are a fervent fan of the W124 and have read and collected everything that has been published about this car, then the book is just O.K.

Quite good on advice on D.I.Y. maintenance and some helpful hints on troubleshooting. In terms of M.B. history and background of the W124, I found the book too basic and quite unexciting.

The book is a reworked MB maint. manual with better photos.

It covers the more mundane maint. tasks and in some cases falls short. The cooling system flush/refill is pathetic. They didn't bother to cover draining the block, replacing t-stat or bleeding air.

There is an interesting discussion on the 103/104 head gasket issue and a way to trick the 119 viscous fan clutch into coupling sooner. Personally I would think that would cause needless fuel consumption as viscous fan clutches do rob horsepower.

There's also an overview of CIS-E FI and the systems used on the 104/119 + some electrical discussion, but nothing in the way of FI/Elect. diagnosis.

Had Bentley/Ritter produced a REAL manual, you would be paying alot more than $30.

Your best source of info is the CD-Rom(believe it or not) and this
WEB site.

Thank God for Steve Brotherton, DOC, Gilly, Joe P and the other techs who give their time freely.

I ordered mine from Amazon and paid an extra $4 to get normal shipping. It still took them 5 days to ship it and it's going to be at least another 5 days to get here.

I should have paid a bit more and got it from Barnes and Noble.

just got mine delivered , form Amazon.com.

Frankly this is a piece of crap!!!...dont waste your money on this. There are no specific details about anything, barely a little more info than your owners manual.......

a big disappointment!!!

I got mine a week ago, and I love it.

It has a ton of good information, and to suggest it has the same info as that in your owner's manual is a huge exaggeration.

It goes into great detail on performing many maintenance procedures, including oil changes, brake and rotor changes, etc.

After struggling with the cd-rom for a year I recently found out about the Haynes 124 manual (and saw it at Toad Hall publications, Denver) and the bible. I bought both. For the beginner there is no substitute for a real book that is well organized and has well-labelled diagrams, and that you can read while relaxing on the couch (or the john). Buy all three, print out as many pages of the cd-rom as you can and put them in a 3-ring binder (organized by MB number), and keep reading this website!
