88 300E center console wood replacement?
Does anyone know a good source for finding replacement center console wood, mine is all cracked. Will this be expensive to replace?
Thanks |

Instead of replacing, consider refinshing them. I had a friend redo mine and they turned out fantastic. The only problem that he encountered was removing the old finish. It is a very tough clear coat that is built up very thick. He eventually had to sand the clear coat off as he could not find a chemical that would remove it. The only drawback that I have from doing it this way, is that it finished in a lighter colour than the original product, so if I try and add more wood, to say the shift knob, it will not match. I would have done this project myself but was pressed for time, and would not recommend attempting it unless you feel very confident in your sanding abilities. It took him about 10 hours to complete the project.
Good luck. |

I have seen a couple of companies that advertise in the Mercedes Star Magazine.
These companies are said to do good refinishing work. Heritage Woodworks: 888-255-3523 Madero Concepts: 800-800-1579 Heritage in particular has a stellar reputation.
