Cheap source for 400E wiring harness?
Finally this happened to me, yesterday I removed the wiring harness from the engine(M119), it turned out to be a big mistake. The wires are so brittle that those for the throttle position sensors and fuel injectors are completely in short circuit, they are extremely fragile, I could hear insulation peeling from the wires when I bent them.
I can not drive my Benz now, I tried to make a new wiring harness by myself, but they sealed the wires into the connectors, wires cracked into connectors, there are no places to solder the new wires on. MB dealer quoted $750 Canadians ($500 USD) for the part, I couldn't find the part in Fastlane catalog. My car has 220k kms (140K miles), my local MB dealer didn't admit any wiring harness issue. Has anybody bought wiring harness from any cheaper source?

Call Phil at PartsShop. He was able to get the harness for me for around $375 USD.

Thank you, I will give Phil a call tomorrow, the price sounds good.
I managed to wrap most of naked wires with insulating tape and heat shrink tubes, then put the wiring harness back. The car now shakes at idle, but drives fine. Hope it does't break before I get the new part, wife started to complain about...

That is about the right price in USD. Parts.com and MB Dealer in Ft Lauderdale are quoting in those ranges. Last edited by whunter; 09-01-2011 at 01:45 PM. Reason: repair html code |
