Question heating problem

Hello everyone,

I am French and my car is European.

I have a heating problem on my class C 320, W204, from January 2008 automatic transmission, which I have been using for 8 years.

Here is my VIN: WDD2040221F095934

I will explain my problem to you, when I set the hot temperature to the maximum, AC light off or not, the blower works well but there is no hot air only cold air.

For indication, the engine temperature is stable at 90°C, and always at the same value, no engine heating problem, the water level in the expansion tank does not move and finally the air conditioning works very well, in case where it is a link, that's it for any necessary clarifications.

I have already done the coolant replacement with a complete and thorough cleaning with several flushes of the cooling system, but the problem persists, it must probably be a failure of a solenoid valve or a temperature sensor, basically I think it's an electronic problem.

But I don't know where the different elements making up the heating system are located and I don't know in what order.

I specify that I use a translator and this can sometimes alter the meaning of a phase.

Thank you in advance for any help you may have.

Olivier.

Do you have any way to read the codes from the climate control unit? There's a lot of things that could go wrong and any codes will help you narrow it down before buying parts.

Can you get hot air from any of the vents? Hot air from the windshield defrost? Hot air at the feet?

Hello thanks for the answer, no I don't have a way to read the codes of the air conditioning unit, maybe you can tell me the name of the unit and where I can buy it if the price is reasonable I will get it, especially if you tell me that I will surely solve my problem with your solution.

I don't know what's available in Europe, but popular option in north america are icarsoft https://www.icarsoft.com/Product/43.html

I own a youcanic https://shop.youcanic.com/products/ucan-pro-scanner?variant=44648901116053

If you work on your own car these are very very nice to own. They pay for themselves pretty quickly.

I would also suggest going to a local shop and asking them to run diagnostics. Most shops in the US will do this for free or a small fee. I would start here because if there's a bad flap actuator, you're going to need to open up the dash and you don't want to do that twice.

Good evening,

Thank you for your advice, I made an appointment with a neighboring garage who will do the diagnosis for me, they will do it for me for free but here in France the price of a diagnosis is generally between €40 and €80.

For 9 years I have been taking my C-Class to Mercedes but it cost me €10,000, so now I will do it myself or in my small local garage which is much cheaper, and my car is still 16 years old .

I'm going to take a closer look at the icarsoft and youcanic cases, thank you.

I will report on my progress in finding a heating fault, it may be useful to another person one day.

But I wouldn't want to declare victory too quickly, what's next after May 21, 2024, meeting day at the garage.

See you soon,

Hello, I am following up on my heating problem.

After searching for the fault by my little mechanic, he found the cabin heating radiator clogged, he cleaned it with a specific cleaning product, then rinsed the radiator thoroughly with a garden hose via the inlet and exhaust hoses. exit.

The heating is back on but not at its maximum, it's better than nothing... but I'm not satisfied with this summary restart.

This is why I would like to change the passenger compartment heating radiator, but I lack information on the procedure for removing the different elements in order to access this heating radiator.

Would you have any procedural information to send me, in video tutorial or images or technical review, or technical diagram...

I give you my VIN WDD2040221F095934.

Kind regards,
