W124 M104 - Camshaft Thrust Washers Missing???

Gurus, I need some help to confirm if I'm missing some parts - sounds a bit strange but bear with me. I pulled the head of my 1990 300CE-24 (oil leak) and while off I had it checked over by a specialist. It was delivered with the cams in situ, and returned with them loosely fitted (I was warned of this...sure, no problems). Now I come to fit the cams and I seem to be missing (or am I?) trust washers for bearing caps 1 and 8 (ie front of each cam https://vidmate.cool/). I got back four half thrust washers for caps 4 and 11, but that's all. My manual indicates thrust washers at caps 1 and 8 (and 4 and 11), and there looks like a stepped location for them though I can't really see what they'd "thrust" against on the cams. So, am I actually missing bits?

What prevents rotation of the thrust washers at locations 4 & 11?
