4matic wagons..

Am I crazy to look at pre2004 4matics??
What should I do to do a quick road test as to how well it works or see issues.

My favorite for the automatic transmission is backing up a hill.

thanks

George

George, it's best to have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) performed by a MB-trained tech who is intimately familiar with the model you are considering buying. That way you will have a professional evaluation and know what major repairs are imminent. Very few folks are selling vehicles that are in excellent condition with no pending issues.

Thanks Fred,

Very comfortable with the W124 Mercedes, but have never spent any time with the 4matics of that era or newer.

This, and what maintenance records are available from previous owner/owners.
If you get no records, I would like to see the estimate for bringing it up to date

W124, w210, w211, 203 4matic wagons are all very different animals. Which one are you talking about?
