Secondary air pump relay bypass
I have a couple of questions, hope someone here will be able to help:
1/- The relay module on my 1996 E320 W210 had a failed fuel pump relay that has already been bypassed, and now the secondary air pump relay is failing (Error code P0411. I removed the pump and found it to be in excellent condition and working nicely, but the relay arm needs to be nudged slightly to establish contact and get the pump going). It looks like it would be an easy job to bypass it, so I might try that first while looking for a replacement relay module. Can anyone give me a diagram showing how the three wires on the connector would connect to a replacement relay? Any suggestion for a replacement relay to use? And is there a fourth wire involved that needs to be cut/connected to the replacement relay as well? 2/- ********.com carries a relay module that is supposed to fit the 1996 E320 W210. However, I see some difference in the pin configuration (2 missing, 1 extra) when comparing the module in my car to the catalog picture. Just wondering if the module will work with those missing /extra pins? Thanks. |

I've been going over wiring diagrams for my 97 SL320, same engine as your 96 but with ME 2.0 / ME 2.1 ECM so your colors may be different and possibly relay operation different.
K17 is the relay block pin 8 red is a relay contact arm and is fed from circuit 30 pin 2 gray / brown is a relay contact and feeds the air pump pin 6 brown / purple the relay coil and runs to the ECM pin 4 red / green is the relay coil and leads to circuit Z7/36 I don't have good data as to if the ECM applies power to pin 6 or pulls it to ground. |
