W221 AIRmatic Strut Renewal

2008 S550 - left front AIRmatic strut has failed. What is the proper procedure for re-pressurizing the strut following renewal? Is the wheel of the affected side left elevated... or does the re-pressurization process require the vehicle to be placed fully on the ground, on all four wheels? Thanks.
