HEATER FAN 93 MERCEDES 300E

The heater fan in our 93 Mercedes 300E only works when the key is turn to a position just before starting. Once the engine has started the fan does not work. Has anyone seen this problem before?

try backing off the key just a hair after starting.

I'll give that a try when daylight comes and the ice stops falling.
