Hood release won't retract
Hello out there!
Recently my little triangle hood release pull is sticking through the grill. It works and releases the hood but its extended through the grill and will not fully retract. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. 1990 420 SEL |

Try lubricating the end of the pull release cable (at the catch) with light machine oil. Clean and free up the catch and then lightly grease with some multipurpose grease (even use expensive wheel bearing grease if that's all you've got).
Avoid WD40 (has a high water content and will freeze in cold weather) and avoid anything with silicone in it. In my experience silicone sprays tend to work for a few times / seconds and then make matters worse.
