I have a 91 300SE with traction control provided by the ABS. Time to change the Brake fluid. I have received lots of advice on how to do it, some say it's just like any other system, others say you must use a pressure system. The consensus aggrees that a Vacuum bleeder should not be used. Any thoughts? If a pressure bleeder is needed, can you recommended an inexpensive one. Thanks.

BRAKE FLUID SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY OTHER YEAR IN APRIL OR MAY. A PRESSURE BLEDER ISNT
NECESSARY BUT HELPS TO FULLY FLUSH SYSTEM. NO MATTER WHAT PROCEDURE YOU USE MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE RESERVOIR FULL & CLEAN. USE ONLY DOT 4 OR DOT 4+ FLUID, NEVER REUSE ANY OLD FLUID & DISPOSE OLD FLUID PROPERLY. WEAR RUBBER GLOVES & KEEP FLUID FROM CONTACTING YOUR SKIN. BE CAREFUL TO MADE SURE NO AIR HAS ENTERED THE SYSTEM. TEST BEFORE DRIVING! |

I think you are speaking of early ASR. If you are, there is an accumulator in the system that can be flushed. I would recommend to let a pro do this. Also all the advise of the DOC holds true. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN WORKING WITH BRAKE FLUID!!! IT WILL KILL THE PAINT ON YOUR CAR. IF YOU GET IT ON THE PAINT, WASH IT OFF WITH WATER.
