190e 2.6 Vickers Power Steering Pump Rebuild
Rebuild complete. I got the snap ring off with small external snap ring pliers and a screwdriver.
One concern... The snap ring seems worn out now. I compressed it back on the best I could, but it is still loose. Concern? |

Hrm... Has anybody done this before? I picked it up of my bench and noticed it doesn't turn freely. In other words when I try to spin the shaft it locks. Then I turn it the other way and it spins about a quarter then and locks. I made sure the rounded edges of the veins are pointed out. Doesn't seem like there is much to this thing...

OK, took it back apart. There was some corrosion I guess from the carb cleaner. I picked it off with my thumbnail. I put a half capful of steering fluid to get things lubed up and put it back together. Now it spins freely. So, lesson learned.

Didn't Stretch do one in his epic rebuild thread?
