RPM Surge When Shifting Out Drive or Reverse

'84 380 SEC Euro, idles at 800-900 but when shifting out of gear RPM goes up to 1100-1200. Have to stop in neutral for a second to wait for it to drop.
Happens only when engine is warmed up.
Did a search and couldn't find anything. Any ideas????

Most likely vacuum leaks. Mine did the same till I replaced ALL hoses/rubber on top of the engine.

Supposed to warm up next week so I'll check them for leaks again. Thanks!

The idle control module can cause intermittent idle issues due to cracked solder connections. It is a black plastic box measuring 4 X 4 X 1 1/4 inch and is mounted in the dual firewall area. Part number is 002 545 40 32 (replaces 002 545 07 32) for the Euro and 002 545 33 32 for North America. I'm not sure if they are interchangeable as I don't have a wiring diagram for the European version. It might just be a difference in calibration for emissions.
