Rubbing alcohol in gas tank
I have read this somewhere that people have put rubbing alcohol in their gas tank to help clean injectors and lower combustion temperature. Is this true? Will it mess anything up? I have tons of rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and was curious if this would work.

It could cause problems with seals in the fuel delivery.
It is also hygroscopic which means it absorbs water. In reality you'll see the same problems that "E" blends create.

Thanks. Looks like I'll stay away from putting that in my tank

Hmmmm,
I'm returning the Lucas FA. I use Chevron gas with its Techron. Just changed my oil. Highway use is the best way to clean it up/ ![]()

Isopropyl alcohol = Dry Gas ( sold in cold climates to absorb moisture in gasoline so it does not freeze in fuel filters. )
You can get the rubbing kind in varying purities, with 91% being the highest common on the shelf strength. It can probably be gotten in higher strengths from a chem company. In any event Iso is a pretty weak solvent so I doubt it would do much for cleaning. |

It eats rubber, so no.
