Can't Connect MB Star Diagnostics to '98 W210.025
I am having problems connecting my Star Diagnotics to my 1998 Mercedes E Class (W210.025).
I have been using the 38-pin cable. I specify the VIN and that it is a post 3/97 build with DAS3. It is having trouble communicating with every module. I can't read anything - from the Tranny/Engine to the Instrument Panel or Climate Control. The multiplexer was tested out on my 2004 CLK 320 Cabriolet and works well. 1) I am using the 38 pin connector and not the obd-ii connector. Is this correct? 2) I am connecting up and then loading Xentry DAS. 3) My battery voltage is 12.9 when the car is on and not running. It's a new batter. I once hooked up the battery reverse by mistake. I replaced a couple fuses, including that on the back of the stereo. Is there anything I should check as it can't connect to run the tests on the control modules? I get to the menu that lists the control modules - but nothing. Can anyone help? I need to reset the Tranny Codes as I replaced the Electrics board in the tranny. This is the hardest car I have ever worked on - we don't seem to "get along". Can any PLEASE PLEASE help? Thanks, Richard |

Sds will try to emulate the hht screen on that model. If you donm't have the hht screen pop up on Sds it is probably not going to work.

38-pin cable is right.
Does the car run, or are you trying to do diag on why it doesn't run?

Look for a bent pin on the cable. I've seen this happen plenty of times.
