R12A Super Freeze AC re-charge
I have been banging my head against the wall thinking there has to be another way around doing a full 134 conversion. I found this stuff. Super-Freeze R12a. Has anyone heard of it and or used it? I don’t care if you think it is illegal or not, what I care about is has anyone used it and how has it worked for them? Thank you.

I've never used it.
I've used Envirosafe ES-12A, its in my 190E and it works pretty well.

Do a search for "freeze 12" on this site. Lots of folks with insight and experience on it...I don't know about this particular product but freeze 12 is a similar (if not identical, chemically) product that replaces r12.

Envirosafe ES-12A and this R12a are hydrocarbon type refrigerants.

Why not convert to R134a?
Don't you want to be able to go into any store to buy it or have any mechanic to be able to work on it?

Just so everyone knows again 12a will give better cooling atributes than 134. 12a is R290 (Propane) and R600 (Isobutane).

I'm interested in this also! I had the 240 converted to 134a and it's cool at best! NOT EVEN CLOSE to cold enough to ride in comfort!!

R134 will work very well in a system designed for it. Most R12 to R134 conversions fail due to inadequate cooling at the condenser, improper oil, improper flush...

Or...you can spend all the time and money doing the terrible conversion when its STILL cheaper to go on craigslist and buy 3 cans of R12.
I have R134a and it sucks out here in Arizona. I am currently working towards a complete backconversion to R12. So you know -- 12a is a flammable refrigerant. R12 is not. From the EPA: Quote:

The condensers on the w123 cars do not have enough capacity to cool effectively so r12 is the best. Lot's and lot's of threads regarding this subject. Lot's of different opinions and thoughts too. I've never thought about just trying propane but I don't see why it would not work. I drove w123 cars for years and finally resolved the a/c issue by going to the w124 cars.
