1991 300e W124 front power seat control issue

My front power seat adjusts on its own. When it is doing this, I cannot control movements with the switch. It seems to move all of the adjustments sporadically. Again, when this starts happening, the door controls are inoperative. As soon as the sporadic movements stop, the door controls work.
The last time it was doing this, I thought that I started smelling that electrical smell coming from the center console near the radio. Does the wire loom from the power seat go thought the center console? I thought it went under the driver's floor pad.
The last few times, the problem starts with me accelerating from a stop.

It's embarrassing to say, but I'm at a loss as to the proper diagnostic procedure to take.
So far I've taken off the door panel, removed the lower kick panel under the steering wheel, and started disassembling the center console ( I'm going to take out the radio for repair. It worked when I bought the car 5 months ago, but won't turn on now).
The door switch doesn't stick in any way that I can tell.

Are there obvious areas to look at? What to look at first?
Any help is welcome and appreciated.
Thanks.

I'd start by looking for problems with the switch panel that controls the seat.

I'm not sure what the earlier 124 seat control configuration looks like, but my '94 E320t has a couple of preset buttons that I suppose would override the manual buttons and could cause the manual buttons to appear to be inoperative if the seat was doing a preset thing.

The fact that it begins under acceleration could indicate a loose wire or contact touching a body ground or some other wire.

The preset never gets lost. When it stops acting up, the preset will put you back where you were. I'm going to remove the floor mat to see if the wires run through the middle like I saw on another seat thread.
As far as the presets doing it, I don't think so because it goes all over the place. It's not like the seat is searching for a particular setting, it just goes all over the place.

I had uncontrolled movements of my driver's seat on my '89 300CE as well. If I opened the driver's door with the car off it would reconfigure itself and if I tried to stop it by moving the seat in the opposite direction it would stick and continue moving until I closed the door. It would also reconfigure itself after I closed the driver's door and turned the ignition on. It would store memory presets for a while and then loose them. On one or two occasions it moved while I was driving (luckily I was stopped at the time). I replaced the entire seat switch assembly a few weeks ago with a good used one and I have not had the unwanted seat movements since. I'm hoping it was just the switch. I also grabbed the power seat module just in case. I would start off with replacing the switch if you can get a good one inexpensively since it is quite easy to replace. If that does not cure the problem look at the power seat module and associated wiring.

Front Sypmtomology of Rear "B" Pillar wiring Stress Failure.

'Know how the Rear Window Lifts start acting "Funny" ?
And the "Cure" is to replace the Wiring that connects the Rear door to the
"B" Pillar.Interminable FLEXING of the Wire Stresses it.

Same,Same with some cases of the Seat Controls.
