transmission accelerates between shifting

Hi Guys,

I have a 722.3 transmission on a 560 sel from 1986 and believe this transmission starts from 2nd gear isn't it?

I have the problem that when the transmission is shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear it accelerates. But rpm is not changing.

What can be a possible cause? and more important a possible solution

many thanks!

Okay thanks, I tried several keywords, but didn't used this one.

Hopefully it's only small issue...I put quite a lot of energie in this tranny

Here are some links for you

PeachPartsWiki: MERCEDES-BENZ TRANSMISSION

My Superior Shift Kit thread (W124 300DT)

The ATSG manual says

1) Check modulating pressure adjust if required

2) Check whether temperature is installed

3) Exchange shift valve housing

4) Recondition K1 clutch"

Option 1) is vacuum adjust
Option 2) must have a word missing - I don't know what that's all about! Can anyone help?
Option 3) that's all the superior shift kit type stuff moving onto more expensive options...
Option 4) that's a bit more work - but probably not too expensive in terms of replacement parts (clutch discs for the 722.1 come in at about 7 euros a piece)

'Hope this helps

Thanks for your options! it's making things clear for me.
About your temperature, I believe it's the temp. compensation for the vaccuum modulator. You need to install the one with valve, I believe it's giving you a better and reliable temperature reading.

It's probably modulator adjustment. Today I went for a test drive and the complaint was a little bit different then before. Before shifting it "jolts" without rpm changing. Now it's just a "not smooth shifting" also a little bit to high in rpm....so modulator vaccuum adjustment and bowden or TV cable adjustment. For your information, I rebuild my tranny completely (because of leakage and bad kickdown on highway). All new clutches, some new springs for right adjustment.
Also installed the supreme shiftkit for the 722.3 gas models.

Probably the strange fault was some air in the valve housing? going to order a vacuum gauge and will adjust.
Will update you about the results.

Try putting a "T" in the line of the vacuum line from your intake manifold to the vacuum modulator and then watch your vacuum as you drive.

Sounds like K1 shift kit is needed.
