Strange 2.6 amp power draw 1984 300SD
Hey folks, I have been all over this forum searching for an answer and have finally decided to post my specific problem. My 1984 300sd developed a 2.6 amp power draw over night and killed my battery. I started by removing fuses one at a time with multimeter conected and that did not show anything because the draw is actually between 2 fuses. I was only able to figure this out by removing all the fuses at once and then replace them one by one until it showed draw. I have a 2.6 amp draw on both #13 and #15 fuses. its 2.6 with the fuse only in #13 and 2.6 with a fuse only in #15 it is also 2.6 with both fuses in. This is the part that confuses me. I guess me main question is... Why would both systems show the exact same draw? Shouldn't they be totally disconnected from each other? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Just a quick refresh, #13 controls diagnostic, hazard warning, system clock, central locking, seat adjustment memory, radio. #15 controls trunk light, roof light front and rear, illumin, vanity mirror light, saftey belt handover arm, door lights, autom antenna, warning monitor term. 5 Thanks a lot in advance! -Spencer |

Those fuses are both "circuit 30" ie hot at all times. Something like a mis-wired radio could give the either-or fuse scenario. I'd be suspicious of :
trunk light not shutting off automatic antenna seat memory central locking radio in that order

Great thanks a bunch for the suggestions. I have checked the trunk light, power antenna , and it still has the stock stereo. How would I dissable the power seat memory and central locking without just removing the fuses? Thanks

Check door lights , if lens are installed 180 degrees , they could cause a short, i think they could cause a backfeed,if power terminal on lens assy is exposed, ive seen this a few times , usually blows fuse.

An alarm with dementia might also cause the problem.
Isn't central locking done by vacuum? |

Central Locking IS Vacuum
with three Electric Micro-Switches activating the Electric Vacuum Pump:
Driver's Door Lock Passenger Door Lock Trunk Lock I would use duxthe1's list.
