W126 Trailing Arm / Rear Lower Control Arm

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what you guys would recommend me do with this :

As far as I see it my options are:

1) Weld it up on the car. Use 16 ga metal or better. Coat.

2) Take it off the car, weld it up using 16 ga metal or better. Coat. Re install

3) Replace with good unit from junkyard car. Last time I was at the yard there was a 500SEL and 420SEL. I'm not sure if they are still there or not.

I have all the tools necessary to complete any of the options.

I'm trying to minimize cash spending. I recon a junkyard would want $200+ for that arm. I helped my buddy replace one once, it wasnt a very fun task.

How feasible is #1? Thats kind of what I'm leaning towards.

i'm curious about which w126 that's on?

mine is 86 560SEL and the rear trailing arm doesn't look like that. mine is kinda honeycomed looking, not smooth like yours.

This is on my gold SD (145k miles).

I believe that some 560SELs had the honeycomb titanium arms..I might be wrong on the titanium bit.

I do wonder how this arm rusted exactly... I have two other 126s chassis with far more miles on it and they've no signs of rust on the arm at all..
