Sluggybuggy Windshield wiper

Trying to finish this wagon, and one of the last problems is a sluggy windshield wiper, any ideas?

All wiper motors tend to become slow after 20-30 years of use and abuse. As long as your charging system is up to spec and puts out enough voltage. The only option is to open it up and grease it (never done), or replace the wiper motor with a new assembly or good used.

I had a similiar issue on my W124. Mine would only work on low, all other speeds would go really slow. There is a good chance the brushes are shot in the wiper motor. You have two choices.
1. replace wiper motor
2. Take motor apart and replace the carbon brushes.

Same thing for slow or intermitent blower motors.

Good luck,
Jim

The procedure for cleaning the mono-wiper mechanism is in the service manual. Also you'll find a write up on the web. I just did it a few weeks ago.

Take all the plastic bits off that expose the wiper transmission and unbolt it from the motor (instructions say make sure the key is not in the ignition for safety).

Once you've got the naked motor you can try the different wiper speeds to see if the motor does what it is supposed to.

AFAIK, all the motors are the same given LHD or RHD considerations. Though three part numbers appear in the EPC I'm told.
