I'm not positive as I don't have a 126 within reach at the monment but usually it will be drivers side from the frame to a bolt at the bell housing engine block interface. Looks like a copper rope about 10" long!

W126 ground strap

My 1991 350SDL has the ground strap on the passenger side. From the transmission lower bellhousing to the frame. It is about 8" long of braided copper. I just went out and took some pics for you and wouldn't you know it. The engine was spotless yesterday (just finished putting a new head, ect. on it). I go out there to take some pics for you and I have a fuel return line leak which made everything look oily. Oh well, at least I noticed it.
