1995 S600 Not Holding Idle

I am looking at buying a 1995 S600 that has been sitting for about 18 months. The car cannot hold idle, when started it turns on,but then will turn back off if the accelerator is not held down. The engine temperature can be brought up to operating temperature, but the oil pressure gauge does not move.I do not know if the gauge is broken or not.The ASR light is illuminated and after a while, all the lights will flash, then turn off,but the ASR light will remain illuminated. Also, there is a sucking noise coming from the engine as if air is being sucked in.Any ideas as to what the problem could be.

That is the sound you will hear as the dollars are sucked out of your wallet while you try to put this jewel back to the condition that it was in while new and trying to maintain it.

I'd start by reading the code and looking for vacuum leaks.

Personally, I would stay away from this vehicle unless someone was holding a gun at my head forcing me to take it, but that is just me.

I'd start by turning and running away, unless you're allergic to money.

The most complex systems can fail in the simplest way.

i don't believe in the lord! He's never bought me a Mercedes Benz.

My guess would be that there is a fault in the ASR system. I would look into checking to see if there are any stored codes. If the electronic throttle actuator is original it may be faulty. The wiring harness may also be suspect, especially if it has never been replaced.
