88 300 sel Stalling won't run right

Hello, My wifes 88 300 sel is not running right. Sometimes you go out and the benz just starts sweet and runs normal, then you go run an errand and get back in the car to have it take 4-5 times before it starts then it may die or run a little till you stop then stall. Recently replaced plugs, looked at distributor cap, worn but not wasted. Cleaned cap and put back together. now it doesn't want to run without me pressing on the pedal, let off and it dies.
Any ideas.
Please help.

OVP relay, idle control valve, temp sensors, fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator, air meter plate binding, there are a lot of things that would need to be checked or that it could be.

few checks

as mentioned above , clean the idle control valve, remove and clean the pins of fuel pump and over voltage relay , Its Best if both are resoldered or replaced at this time due to ageing .
Its good to replace the rotor and cap together .the leads themselves do not go bad ,its the end plug connectors becoming conductive due to grime /ageing.
Air flow plate and inside area should be cleaned spotlessly with carb cleaner
regards
