I just went through the rock island part selection process, and it looks like you ordered (and I quote):

"1978 MERCEDES-BENZ 450SEL 4.5L 4520cc V8 MFI : Fuel/Air : Fuel Injector O-Ring"

...instead of injector seals. Plus, the O-rings should be much thinner, so you probably recieved the wrong parts as well.

What you're looking for are these:

First photo is the injector holder with O-ring
Second photo is the injector 'seal'
Third photo is the O-ring separate from the holder

I have the fat little O-ring that rock auto lists. since the three pics are ALL of the components needed to do the injectors, The logical assumption is that those fat little O-rings are aftermarket injector seals. they seat tightly on the injector and inside the holder. These parts and the fat O-rings I have are all K-jet parts. D-jet seals are TOTALLY different.

no, it's the wrong part. I have a handful of those mistakes too.

They're the cheap version of that black cone. Get the right part.

Thx -CTH

Yeah, the black fat O-rings didn't do anything. They seat on the injector real nice, but once in the holder there's nothing to hold down the injector after it's installed. Into my rubber parts box they went.

Because I didn't replace any of the injector parts, except the injector holder O-rings, I expected to have all my vacuum leaks there. I was right, all but three injectors surge when I spray them, I order the RIGHT parts tomorrow.
I just hope I'm not going to need to replace the holders, because that turns a 16$ job into a $80 job, and I don't think there's anything wrong with the holders as they are.
