98 W210 Blower Motor Regulator question
My 98 W210 E300D (Chassis A498306) recently has experienced a problem with the blower motor. The blower frequently will not start in the customary 10-15 seconds after turning the ignition. Sometimes (typically in colder weather) it will run for several days normally, then for no reason, will not start. Often, when it is warmer (80-90 degrees) it will not start, more often than not).
Here's the question. I have found that if it isn't working, that driving over a couple of speed bumps can often get it going again. Other times, this doesn't work. Given the price of the blower/regulator, I'm wondering if this is a loose connection, a bad regulator, or a blower that's simply given up the ghost (or perhaps has a flat spot on the armature) Any ideas?

From your description I would say the brushes are worn out on the motor itself and it is not the regulator. Some models have replaceable brushes...you might want to research that or just pickup a used one and replace the blower. If you want a new one you will need to replace both the blower, mounting plate and regulator with the new style ($500-$800 in parts).
