Car will crank but no start 1996 e320
Thank you MB DOC I was able to get wiring diagram for the wiring harness that goes from this connector called x22/1 and someone had the wire instead of going to the starter solenoid connected to ground on transmission (what a mess) In any case I connected this wire to starter and now when I try to start the car now the car will crank and rotate but it will not start as in run. I checked for fuel pressure and there is none. I checked the fuel pump and it is not getting power. I put power manually to the fuel pump and it pumps gas once manually hooked up but the car still does not start. When I try to start the car the mirror lights flash (both red and green) but not as I try to start but when I turn the key off. How do I check if the alarm is stopping the power to fuel pump? The remote key locks and unlocks the doors and I do not understand if the alarm is working or not or if it is preventing the start. The red and green wire that goes to fuel pump from k40 or alarm module is not giving power. Can someone help me what is the problem or help me troubleshoot. I read a post saying something about the crank position sensor does that have to do anything with the power supply to the fuel pump or letting the fuel go to cylinders by giving a signal to injectors? How do I check if the ecu is good? thanks for anyones help

1996 was the first MB's that used an antitheft system called DAS.
DAS can shut down fuel & ignition systems. Do the red / green lights on the mirror flash while you are cranking the starter?

Thank you MB DOC. The mirror lights do not flash as I am trying to start the car in start position but as soon as i turn the ignition switch to off position I see the mirror lights flashing(both red and green) How do I know if the DAS is actually the culprit. I can close and open the car with the remote. I have tried to open and close the door with the valet key and then try to start the car but no luck. Do I have to close the hood when I open and close the car? I am sorry if the alarm is the culprit will that stop even the starter from turning? I am not even seeing an engine light on the car when you first turn on the key? Thank you MB DOC for my other thread when I had the trouble getting the power to starter. Now I can get the starter to turn but the car will not start. Thanks.
