Lightbulb 97' C280 trans cold shifting

before it warms up it shifts at very high rpms before shifting. once it goes through the gears one time it goes back to normal. this car has less than 85k miles. sometimes it downshifts slightly hard on one of the low gears. it has done this ever since i bought it 3 years ago except for the slightly hard shift.

all replys are appreciated

Probably OK

There is an upshift delay that changes the shift point when the trans is cold. My 96 c280 does the exact same thing. It's normal and designed that way. Once the car is warm, if it shifts normally, you are OK.

PS - if it starts to throw CEL code 1700 look first at the vac line that runs to the trans. It's a $2 fix and a common problem on these w202's.

these cars have a shift delay built in until they warm up. it helps build engine temps up to optimal running temps.
