Hood opens only to about 55 degrees
My 300D hood only opens about 55 degrees while my neighbor down the streets 240D hood opens to at least 80 degrees. it is very frustrating, the hinge doesent look like it can open any more but the hood is just to low when i am working from the side.
help would be much appreciated. |

Not sure exactly how it works on your model, but there are peices on each hinge that will move in a way so that the hood can go up all the way. You'll just have to play around with it or wait until someone can give you a detailed walk through! Good luck.

thanks david, i have looked at the hinge and there 2 pieces bent at a 90- deg angle that look like they are blocking the hood from opening all the way. i Will try to mess around with those and see if it works.

the procedure is
Open hood to 55 degrees, go to the drivers side hinge and pull the little tab toward the front of the car releasing the drivers side hinge to go further. Go around to passenger side and do the same and the hood should go straight up or 80 degrees. One of those tabs will then lock it into position.

its a mighty wide open hood. Was great when I changed the radiator.. Made it real easy to hang a light from the hood and get in there without worrying about the ol noggin getting jumbled.. hehe Alon

Makes for great lighting conditions for taking those DIY pics too!
Makes you glad that you don't have to change a radiator on one of the forward-lifting hoods (like on a Jag I used to own...60 degrees max!)
