Question 1994 e320 tranny

I've lost my first gear start. The only way I can get first gear is after the tranny is warmed up and I go from reverse to drive. No down shift from a dead stop and heavy throttle or moving the shifter to 2 when I'm rolling to a stop. It has new oil and filter. I've also had the valve body out and all seems right with it. Any ideas?

Have you just lost first gear or have you lost all forward gears? My car started starting out in second gear and it was the pressure control cable. I was able to adjust it, and it worked OK for a while but I ended up having to replace the cable.

Thanks Vanwiek,no I still have all my forward gears. Is the pressure control cable the one that is attached to the throttle and also called bowden cable?

Yes it is. If you adjust it do so in small increments, like a quarter of a turn and then test drive. I know that seems tedious but a small amount of adjustment can make a big difference.
