Question 1991 420 SEL headlight bulb replacement

What bulbs are the best to replace factory lamps and provide the most light?

Last I checked silverstars did have a blue tint.... I would go for xtravision bulbs. Actually I wouldn't spend a dime on the worthless DOT lights and save your pennies for ecodes.

If you are sticking to the standard bulbs, the Silverstars are a decent replacement, though they tend to be shorter lived than the xtravision bulbs.

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ has a LOT of info about different bulbs, especially about the blue bulb trend.
Worth at least a quick read!

The Silverstars in my car shine bright white. As for DOT headlights you are correct and I want to get them. Until then, I removed the yellow lenses on the foglights and use them all the time and get pretty good illumination.

You will get better rain vision with the xtravision bulbs. The blue white light from the silverstars gets absorbed by rain a lot more.

I still don't understand the blue. I never see blue in my headlights. Now I did try some xenon blue headlights and those did shine blue and they sucked.

Look at the bulb. It has a blue coating on it. That filters out the yellow light to make it seem whiter.
