W202 C280 Air Bags and Vac Pods

I have read some where that I can access the A/C Vac Pod in the dash of this '94 c280 by removing the glove compartment liner. I need to test it and see if that is where I have a vac leak. The A/c does not put out cold air but everything seems to be functioning and full of r134a. My question is what about the air bag? How do I de-activate it or what do I have to do to make sure it doesn't deploy? I haven't worked around these and would like to have some first hand precautions before I get too deep. I can use any information on the air bags and /or the A/C vac pods on these cars. Thanks.
