1992 190E - Windows wont Close Completely

Hello,

I have a ’92 190E / 2.3 with rear window issues.

This problem occurred with BOTH rear windows at the same time.

They will not close completely; they remain about three inches open. Both in the same spot. They both also seem to roll down about three inches too much.

I removed one door panel but didn’t notice anything unusual. When rolling it up, however, the cable has about three inches of play at the bottom

I replaced the child safety lock because it is the only thing I can think of in common with both windows. This did not resolve the problem.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Not sure if this applies to your car but, try bringing the window all the down with the switch, hold it there for 3 seconds, then drive the window all the way up & hold it there for 3 seconds.
This syncronizes the windows.

Watchsmith...what was the resolution? I have the exact same problem (just 1 window)

Watchsmith,
What was the resolution? I have the exact same problem (just 1 rear window though). I have removed the rear door panel, and all seems to be working correctly. But, window stops about 2" from top, and seems to try to roll down 2" too far.

Is this a switch problem, or some type of adjustment needed in the motor/cable/etc?

Thanks
