OBDII P1444 code
1995 C220, 170K mi, P1444 code, Innova says it's a "Catalytic Converter Temperature Sensor Bank 2 Failure". Is it as simple as replacing the sensor (wherever that is?) Or is it more insidious than that? Recent spark plug and wire replacement to cure occassional mis-fire.

Don't know where you got that info.....P1 444 on that car is about the purge valve switch-over valve operation.
Most likely a bad valve OR a broken vacuum line at the valve. Valve is located UNDER the w/s washer reservoir.

Funny, that's what my Innova code reader book says in the printed text, but calls it a Ford specific code. I'll look for the purge valve tonight.

When I removed the washer tank to access the purge valve and began disconnecting the hoses from it, I discovered that the small rubber hose connecting the purge valve to the purge pressure sensor had a split. Replacing the hose solved the problem without buying a $150 purge valve. Many thanks!
