'95 E320 2 engine wiring harnesses or 1?
Hi guys, getting ready in the next couple of months to deal with the rotten engine wiring harness on my '95 E320. However, I have noticed some folks writing that these cars have 2 engine wiring harnesses-1 upper, and 1 lower. Does this apply to my '95 E320? If so, I need both?
Thanks in advance, -Grant H. Topeka, Ks |

Only one engine harness on this car. There is a second wire harness that is sometimes refered to as the battery cable harness. It consists of a battery cable (duh) and three other wires. If I remember correctly, the three wires go to oil pressure sender, oil low quantity sender, and starter lockout input. Usually the battery harness is not problematic, although crumbling insulation can fall into the oil filter housing during an oil change if your'e not careful. (these three wires run across the firewall just above the filter housing....) Engine wire harness replacement is not difficult, good DIY article with pictures here at MercedesShop.com

Very helpful information. I appreciate it very much. I will continue saving my money for the harness.
The car is sitting until I get a new harness as it isn't really reliable at this point. After it's been driven up to temperature, and shut off--it won't restart about 5% of the time--cranks fine but will not fire. I just worry where it will leave me stranded... Thanks again, -GH |

I assume you know that you will need your vin # when ordering as there are variations in the harnesses.
