I have a 1981 240 D and the sunroof works great when it it hot but not when it is cold. It acts like it is sticky but the tracks are clean and the cable (male-female) inside the sunroof is clean also. Can the motor get weak over time and it is easier to operate when heats up and the parts are looser and slide easier? This is my first question on this site and am excited that I could get advice !!!
Thanks 240dand300e |

A good quality silicone paste usually helps the sunroofs glide back and forth with no trouble.

Thanks Chowpit,
I read that there is an actual sunroof paste from Mercedes or is there an alternative ? Thanks for the post 240dand300e |

I believe there is such a thing as an official MB sunroof slide paste, although it comes in a large container. My personal experience is that getting it squeeky clean, then applying a light treatment of silicon spray lubricant is better than using any type of grease, although I suspect that the same situation may not apply in all climates.

. . . silicon spray ng!
Had a similar problem and solved it by using MB's sliding grease!
